How do I make green whipped icing to resemble grass?
To create a grassy effect on top of your dirt cups, make a simple green whipped icing using my Whipped Icing recipe and simply dye it green. Transfer to a piping bag using a grass tip (Wilton #233) for the grass!

Fun Add-Ins

  • Gummy worms for a "muddy garden" effect

  • Shredded coconut dyed green (if you prefer a different "grass" texture)

  • Mini chocolate chips for extra crunch

Variations and Substitutions

  • Dairy-Free Version: Use dairy-free pudding mix and substitute almond, oat, or coconut milk for regular milk.
  • Fruity Twist: Swap Peeps and candy eggs for strawberries or raspberries.
  • Different Cookies: Try chocolate graham crackers or gluten-free Oreos for a twist.
  • Nutty Crunch: Add crushed peanut butter cups or a drizzle of Nutella for extra flavor.
  • Cake Version: Instead of pudding, layer with chocolate cake crumbs and whipped cream for a trifle-style dessert!

Ingredients Needed For Easter Bunny Dirt Cups

  • 1 (5.9 oz) package instant chocolate pudding mix

  • 2 ½ cups milk

  • 15 Oreo cookies, crushed

  • Peeps marshmallow bunnies (1 per cup)

  • Cadbury Mini Eggs

  • Green sprinkles (for "grass")

How To Make Easy Dirt Cups for Easter

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the chocolate pudding mix and milk until smooth. Let it sit for 5 minutes to thicken.

Divide half of the crushed Oreos evenly into the bottom of 6 small cups or jars.

Spoon the pudding mixture on top, distributing evenly among the cups.

Sprinkle the remaining crushed Oreos over the pudding to resemble "dirt."

Decorate with green sprinkles, Cadbury Mini Eggs, and a Peeps marshmallow bunny in each cup.

Chill in the refrigerator for at least 10 minutes before serving.
