Homemade Hibachi On The Blackstone
Share
One dinner recipe that the entire family can agree on is, Homemade Hibachi! It's actually pretty easy to make at home with the help of the Blackstone!
Alright, so I will give you a little warning before you make this Homemade Hibachi recipe at your house...it goes fast, so make sure that you have bowls ready to go to put the food into once they are done cooking.
What I typically do is pull all the ingredients out and put them outside with the Blackstone. I start by making the rice and the vegetables as they take the longest. Once they are done, the fried rice goes back into the pan that I originally cooked the rice in to save on dishes. Then, I have to separate all the meats, I can't put them in the same bowl as my kids are weirdos! If you don't have family members who don't mind other meats touching, then by all means, throw them in the same bowl!
From there, I cook the chicken, pull it off and then throw on the steak for a few minutes before adding the shrimp. The shrimp cooks really fast!
It also helps to have a helper!
So, I'll be the first to admit, I don't really have measurements! I just eye ball and taste!
What Blackstone Do You Have?
I have a 36" Blackstone with Air Fryers (similar to this!). I do a lot of cooking, often feed a lot of people and this has worked well for me. I'll be honest and admit that I've never even used the air fryer baskets in the Blackstone!
Does the rice have to be cold?
So I'm in several Blackstone groups on Facebook and they typically make the rice the night before and then place it in the refrigerator until it's needed.
I've done it both ways and I honestly just don't see a difference...
Homemade YumYum Sauce Recipe
I made sure to measure out the ingredients that I use to make YumYum Sauce! Typically I just eye ball it, but wanted to share this recipe with ya'll, so I took one for the team!
- 1 1/2 c mayo
- 1/2 c ketchup
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
Whisk all the ingredients into a bowl and set out to serve with your hibachi!
Ingredients Needed To Make Hibachi
- meats (I do sirloin, chicken breast and shrimp)
- rice: white rice, soy sauce, a little teriyaki sauce, onions, peas and carrots, eggs
- yum yum sauce: mayo, ketchup, rice vinegar, garlic and onion powder, paprika
- veggies: zucchini, broccoli, onions, mushrooms
How To Make Hibachi At Home
Start by making your rice. I do 4 cups of water, 4 cups of Minute White Rice. Boil the water, add the rice, remove from the heat and cover with a lid.
Next, prepare the veggies by washing and cutting the zucchini, broccoli, onions. If you want to chop the mushrooms, you can! I don't even bother!
Grab the sirloin and cut into bite size pieces. Do this with the chicken breasts as well. I typically slice the chicken breasts in half, cut into 3 strips and cut into 1" pieces. Set aside.
Now that you have all the ingredients prepared, pull out the teriyaki and soy sauce. Take all the ingredients out with you!
Get the Blackstone hot and clean if it's not already!
Place oil down on the griddle and then add the rice on the Blackstone. Mix with soy sauce and a little teriyaki sauce.
Next, create a "hole" in the middle of the rice and add 6 eggs. Scramble the eggs in the middle of the rice until they have set. Then mix the eggs throughout the rice.
Add in the onions and frozen peas/carrots to the rice.
Allow to cook until the onions are soft and translucent, about 10-15 minutes. I mix the rice around often to ensure the rice all cooks evenly. As I'm mixing the rice I'll add more soy and teriyaki sauce as needed. Remove from the Blackstone and set aside.
While the rice is cooking, I'll also throw on the veggies. Again, place some oil down on the surface of the Blackstone to ensure no ingredients stick. Sautee the veggies until soft and tender, topping with salt and black pepper. Once the vegetables have softened, about 1-2 minutes before you remove from the heat, add the desired amount of soy sauce to the veggies! Remove from the heat and set aside.
Now, it's time to cook the meat! Start with the chicken breasts, season with salt and pepper. Once the chicken breasts have cooked all the way through, 8-10 minutes, add in the soy sauce and a little bit of teriyaki sauce. Remove from the heat and set aside.
Add the steak onto the griddle and cook for 3-5 minutes, flipping to ensure the steak has cooked to your liking. I added a tablespoon or two of minced garlic to the steak!
Finally, add the shrimp (mix with a tablespoon or two of minced garlic if you wish!) and toss both the steak and shrimp with soy sauce and teriyaki. Remove from the heat and set aside.
