Cook the French Toast: Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt a small amount of butter until the skillet is coated. Dip each sandwich briefly into the egg mixture, coating both sides. Be careful not to soak the bread to avoid sogginess.

Can I use different types of jelly?

Yes, feel free to substitute grape jelly with strawberry, raspberry, or any other flavor you prefer.

Can I use a different type of bread?

While Texas toast is recommended for its thickness, you can use other types of bread like challah or brioche for a different texture and flavor.

How do I make this recipe dairy-free?

Substitute the milk with a dairy-free alternative like almond milk or oat milk, and use a non-dairy butter or oil for cooking.

Can I prepare this recipe ahead of time?

For the best results, make and cook the French toast fresh. However, you can assemble the sandwiches and prepare the egg mixture ahead of time, then cook them just before serving.

How can I store leftovers?

Store any leftover French toast in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in a toaster oven or skillet to maintain crispiness.

Variations

  • Nutty Delight: Add a sprinkle of chopped nuts like almonds or walnuts to the peanut butter before assembling the sandwiches for added crunch.
  • Berry Bliss: Swap out the grape jelly for mixed berries or fruit preserves for a burst of fresh fruit flavor.
  • Spicy Twist: Add a pinch of nutmeg or a dash of cayenne pepper to the egg mixture for a unique flavor kick.

Enjoy this Peanut Butter and Jelly French Toast as a fun and indulgent breakfast or brunch option. It’s sure to become a favorite for anyone who loves a creative twist on classic comfort foods!
