Can I use regular pizza dough instead of crescent roll dough?
Yes, you can use regular pizza dough if you prefer a thicker, chewier base. However, crescent roll dough gives this dessert pizza its signature flaky, buttery texture. If you’re using regular dough, you may need to adjust the baking time, so keep an eye on it!
Can I make this recipe ahead of time?
While this pizza is best served fresh and warm, you can prepare the dough and toppings ahead of time. Simply store the dough in the fridge and assemble the pizza just before baking. The icing can be made ahead of time as well and stored in an airtight container.
Can I use a sugar substitute?
Yes, you can use a sugar substitute like Sukrin:1, Swerve, or another alternative for the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Just make sure the substitute is a 1:1 ratio to regular sugar to ensure the texture and flavor are similar.
How can I make this cinnamon-sugar pizza gluten-free?
To make this recipe gluten-free, simply swap the crescent roll dough with a gluten-free dough option. Many grocery stores carry gluten-free pizza dough, or you can make your own. Be sure to check if the icing ingredients are gluten-free as well!

Can I add extra toppings to the cinnamon-sugar pizza?
Absolutely! You can get creative with toppings. Consider adding chopped nuts, chocolate chips, or even mini marshmallows for extra flavor. A sprinkle of chopped fruit like apples or pears before baking could also make for a delicious twist!
What’s the best way to store leftovers?
Store any leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2-3 days. You can reheat slices in the microwave for 10-15 seconds for a quick warm-up. If you want to keep the pizza crispy, you can reheat it in the oven at 350°F for 5-7 minutes.
Can I freeze this cinnamon sugar pizza?
While it's best fresh, you can freeze the baked pizza for up to 1 month. Just wrap it tightly in plastic wrap and place it in a freezer-safe bag. When you’re ready to enjoy, let it thaw at room temperature and warm it up in the oven.

Ingredients Needed For Cinnamon Sugar Pizza
- 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar - I like the icing to be thick, if you want it thin, use 1/4 c of powdered sugar
- 1 tbsp milk (for icing)
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (for icing)
How to Make Cinnamon Sugar Dessert Pizza
Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking sheet or pizza pan to prevent sticking and ensure an even bake.

Roll Out the Dough:
Unroll the crescent roll dough and gently press it onto the prepared baking sheet. Shape it into a large rectangle or circle, depending on your preference. Pinch the seams of the dough together to form a smooth, cohesive crust. If you watched the video, my crescent dough sheet exploded when I opened it so I had to pinch it back together!

Add the Cinnamon-Sugar Topping:
Brush the melted butter evenly over the dough, making sure every inch is covered. In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Sprinkle this sweet cinnamon-sugar mixture generously over the buttered dough, ensuring it’s evenly coated.

Bake the Pizza:
Place the dough in the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the crust turns golden brown and crispy around the edges.

Make the Icing:
While your cinnamon-sugar pizza is baking, prepare the icing by whisking together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl. Keep whisking until the icing is smooth and creamy.

Drizzle and Serve:
Once the cinnamon-sugar pizza is out of the oven, allow it to cool for a few minutes before drizzling the icing over the top in zigzag patterns or swirl designs—whatever looks most appetizing to you! Let the icing harden, then slice and serve.
